Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland Duet Recreated by 'Wicked' Stars

Wicked star Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have brought new life to the iconic duet between Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland. Over 60 years after Streisand and Garland made history with their legendary 1963 performance together on The Judy Garland Show, Grande and Erivo took their shot at singing the same duet—and it’s safe to say they had big slippers to fill. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Perform ‘Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again’ During the new NBC musical special, Wicked: One Wonderful Night, Grande and Erivo teamed up to sing their own version of the “Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again” mashup that Streisand and Garland sang together over six decades ago. Grande, who plays Glinda opposite Erivo’s Elphaba in the Wicked movies, took to Instagram on Monday, Nov. 10 to share footage of her performance with Erivo, putting it side-by-side with Streisand and Garland’s version. In their recreation of the original performance, Grande and Erivo sat next to one another on the stage, just like Streisand and Garland did, as they belted out the vocals. The video of Grande and Erivo even featured a black-and-white filter to match the footage from the episode of Garland’s show, which aired on CBS on Oct. 6, 1963. Streisand, only 21 at the time, joined the Wizard of Oz actress in putting together their two songs: Garland’s “Get Happy” and Streisand’s “Happy Days Are Here Again.” The performance would go on to earn Streisand her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Performance in a Variety or Musical Program or Series. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s Version Gets Rave Reviews from Fans After fans heard their take on the reimagined duet, Grande and Erivo were applauded online for doing justice to the “Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again” mashup duet. “I have watched this a minimum of 2,000 times. 🥰👏” one user gushed under the post on Monday, while another user said, “This is EVERYTHING 👏😍” “this was the greatest gift of 2025” one user chimed in. Someone else said they were “sobbing” after hearing the take on the song, while another wrote, “Altered my brain chemistry.” “Cannot even breathe!! Icons!! Legends!! All four!” Grande’s mom added in the comments. Grande and Erivo’s live performance of “Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again” is now available for streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.
