Bad Bunny On What Super Bowl LX Performance Means For Puerto Rico & Receiving Call From Jay-Z He Was Headlining Halftime Show
Bad Bunny is headlining Super Bowl LX Halftime Show next year and is sharing his thoughts on the momentous event.
The Puerto Rican star gave his first interview to Apple Music‘s Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden, discussing his excitement over his performance and his goals for the show.
“I’m going to enjoy. I’m going to embrace the moment. I’m going to show what we have, our music, our culture. I’m just going to the stage to enjoy and have fun,” he said in the interview.
Bad Bunny recalled getting the call from Jay-Z, who produces the show for Apple Music, about headlining the Super Bowl Halftime show, saying, “It’s crazy because I was in the middle of a workout. So I remember that after the call, I just did like a hundred pull-ups. I didn’t need more pre-workout shit or whatever. It was very special. It was so special.”
Keeping the announcement a secret was not difficult for the “Tití Me Preguntó” singer saying, “I don’t want to act like the coolest guy. We’re used to this. That’s the type of thing we like [to] surprise people. We’re always holding, and keeping secret everything. Trying to do our best. Of course, [the] NFL, Apple Music, Roc Nation, they also wanted to keep it.”
Bad Bunny noted that finally being able to reveal the news “felt good,” adding, “I felt so emotionally just like It was the first time that I showed the video one of my friends and I saw his reaction and he was so excited. As I said, I’m really excited but this is making me feel so happy, because more than me for everyone else.”
“I’m really excited for my friends, my family. Puerto Rico, all the Latino people around the world. I’m excited about my culture. I’m excited about everything, not just for me. You know what I’m saying,” he said. “It feels really good the beach where we record is my hometown beach. So it’s a very special thing for us.”
Going on a worldwide stage like the Super Bowl is major for Bad Bunny, who wears the Puerto Rican flag with pride, saying, “I’m always doing everything with purpose, and of course, everywhere I go, I always represent and I always put my country, my music. I really am figuring out yet what I’m going to do on this show. But it’s going to be good.”
