Students pursuing Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) under Gulbarga University staged a protest in Kalaburagi on Thursday demanding that the university immediately announce the results of the second and fourth semester examinations of the 2024-25 academic year and distribute their marks cards at the earliest. The agitating students, under the banner of B.Ed Vidyarthigala Horata Samiti, gathered outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office and staged a rasta roko, disrupting traffic for some time. They expressed anger over the prolonged delay in the declaration of results saying that it has seriously affected their academic and professional prospects. Samiti convener Tejas R. Imbrahimpur said that as per norms, the university is required to announce examination results within 45 days of the exams. However, the results of the B.Ed second and fourth semesters for the 2024-25 academic year have not been declared even after five months of the exams. “Without the results, we cannot apply for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) or pursue higher studies,” he said. The students also demanded that the university issue marks cards for all semesters of the B.Ed course along with convocation certificates at the earliest. They also urged the authorities to reduce the B.Ed examination fees. The protesters appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to intervene and convey their demands to Gulbarga University authorities. The students warned that they will intensify their agitation if the issue is not resolved immediately.
