Hyderabad-based precision engineering firm Azad Engineering has inaugurated a 7,200 sq mts lean manufacturing facility at its Centre of Excellence and Innovation Centre in Tunikibollaram IP here to meet capacity commitments to Siemens Energy.
It will serve and support supply of highly engineered and complex rotating and stationary airfoils, critical components, sub-assemblies and assemblies for advanced gas as well as industrial and thermal power turbine engines.
The facility currently employs 150 direct skilled professionals, a number that will be increased to 230 by this year, Azad said after the inauguration in which its Chairman and CEO Rakesh Chopdar as well as senior executives of Siemens Energy, including Andreas Schmidt, VP Procurement SE GS Central, participated.
The manufacturing facility marks evolution of a collaboration between Azad and Siemens Energy that began in 2012 with supply of highly critical rotating airfoils for just two stages of SGT 400 machines. Over the 12 years, Azad has undergone extensive qualification processes and technological advancement to become a trusted partner to Siemens Energy. It is an integral part of the latter’s global supply chain strategy.
Describing the collaboration as a perfect fit, Mr. Schmidt said “the global energy market is growing, which means the baseline for our common business, our common growth is given and better than ever.
The collaboration and the facility opening “reflects a shared commitment to engineering excellence and innovation,” Mr. Chopdar said in a release.
