AXA XL Man On The Run On November 9th

AXA XL Man On The Run On November 9th Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre are asking the men of Bermuda to take part in the AXA XL Man on the Run 5K on Sunday, November 9th. A spokesperson said, “With AXA XL Reinsurance Ltd as the title sponsor, this event unites men across the island to raise awareness and funds for men’s health initiatives. “The event was the brainchild of Race Director, Clifford Roberts, who was inspired to create the event after seeing women speaking openly about their experience at Breast Cancer events. He wanted to create a men only community event devoted to encouraging all men to become more conscious of their personal health and break down taboos around Prostate Cancer. “The AXA XL Man on the Run 5K provides an opportunity for men to combine fitness and purpose. On a unique course starting and finishing at Warwick Academy, this event draws male participants of all ages from across Bermuda for a meaningful cause. The event will kick off with the Juniors 2.5K race at 8:30 AM, inviting young boys to join the effort.” “Early Prevention leads to Early Detection, men listen to your body,” said Clifford Roberts, Man on the Run Committee Chair. “This race is important because, since its inception, the number of participants has continued to grow. More men are not only taking part but also talking openly about getting checked, and the fear surrounding prostate exams is starting to fade.” A spokesperson added, “100% of all funds donated to Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre are used to support local men’s health initiatives including cancer prevention presentations, and supports the Centre’s Equal Access Fund, providing financial subsidisation for all clinical services at Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre including cancer genetic testing, cancer navigation support and radiation therapy.” “The AXA XL Man on the Run is an opportunity for men to lace up for a good cause,” said Deborah Titterton Narraway, Chief Marketing and Fundraising Officer at Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. “By participating, men can make a positive impact by helping others access our services, whether it be through free men’s health screening events to lifesaving screening and treatment.” A spokesperson added, “The event is open to males of all ages and fitness levels, from seasoned athletes to first-timers, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition. There is also a non-competitive and competitive 5K walk for men who would like to take part but prefer not to run. School Spirit Challenge “This year, schools are invited to join the effort to promote men’s health. The school with the highest number of participants will receive a special School Spirit Plaque, recognizing their community involvement and dedication to this cause. It’s a fun and meaningful way for students to come together, support men’s health, and inspire others to lead healthier lives. Workplace Challenge “Companies can also get involved by participating in the Workplace Challenge. The business with the most registrants will receive the Workplace Challenge Plaque, demonstrating their commitment to fostering a healthier workforce and encouraging open conversations about men’s health.
