Authorities to Conduct Necropsy After Jaguar’s Death on Burrell Boom Road A jaguar struck and killed along the Burrell Boom Road on Monday has been safely recovered by wildlife authorities, thanks to quick action from local residents and police. One concerned citizen stayed at the scene to guard the carcass, while officers from the Burrell Boom Police Station helped secure the area until wildlife experts arrived. Although the jaguar is believed to have been hit by a vehicle, a full necropsy will be carried out to confirm the exact cause of death. Researchers will also gather important data to support ongoing efforts to monitor and protect Belize’s jaguar population. The Belize Tapir Project, The Belize Zoo & Tropical Education Center, and the Belize Forest Department have all expressed gratitude to the public for reporting the incident and for their continued support in safeguarding the country’s wildlife.
