The new FiiO FT13 headphones feature hand-crafter wooden ear cups made from South American purpleheart wood. Following FiiO’s award-winning FT1, FT3, FT5 and FT7 headphones, the brand has announced the new FT13 headphones. Featuring ear cups crafted from purpleheart, a rare South American hardwood selected for its tonal warmth and evolving colour. Over time, the color of the wood transforms from light brown to a deep purple. The CNC-machined ear cups are finished with a high-gloss lacquer, ensuring each pair is unique. Each of the FT13’s ear cups houses an oversized 60mm dynamic driver featuring a W-shaped diaphragm. The shape expands the vibration area of the driver, which increases efficiency and delivers faster transients, resulting in extended lows as well as clean and detailed highs. A U-shaped damping tube, noise-reduction chamber and sound-absorbing cotton reduce ambient noise by up to 26dB, creating a more immersive and closed-back environment. Designed to be compatible with all audio sources, the FT13 has low impedance and high sensitivity that make the headphones easy to drive even from smartphones, laptops and high-end audio systems. Comfort is boosted with the use of breathable memory foam. The new headphones use a detachable cable system made of Furukawa monocrystalline copper and silver-plated wiring with 3.5mm and 4.4mm connectors.
