Hugh Freeze is mulling a quarterback change. The Auburn coach, who started Ashton Daniels against Kentucky on Saturday night, said at half the coaches will discuss a change at quarterback in the 3-3 game. “We have to get in here and talk about it,” Freeze told the SEC Network. “They’re doing a really good job on defense for us, and we’re not creating any momentum right now. So, we need to get in there and talk about what’s the best option for us for sure.” Auburn managed to get into plus territory twice, but only once thanks to the offense on a 26-yard run by Ashton Daniels. It was an interception late which enabled the offense to tie the game at 3 with a 27-yard field from Alex McPherson with 2 seconds left in the first half. “Defense is playing its tail off,” Freeze told the Auburn Sports Network at halftime. “Got us points there right there at the half to even it up. “Really, really taking it to us up front in the pass game. We got to go in here and figure out what’s the best option for us in regard to that, when we have to throw the ball and protection schemes, and also quarterback.” Regardless of whether it is Daniels or Jackson Arnold, Freeze has one thing he wants his quarterback to do in the second half. “Turn the ball loose,” he said. We got 1-on-1s there, like on the fourth down. You just have to turn it loose and give our guys a chance to make it.” Daniels was 6 of 14 for 42 yards. He added 33 yards on nine carries, including a 26-yard run to get the Auburn offense across midfield for the first time in the game late in the second quarter.
