Atwedie crash leaves 14 critically injured on Kumasi–Accra Highway

At least 14 people are reportedly in critical condition after a fatal accident involving a Sprinter bus and a stationary tipper truck at Atwedie near Konongo on the Kumasi–Accra Highway. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 25, 2025, when the Sprinter bus, with registration number GR 6626-22, reportedly rammed into the stationary truck while negotiating a curve. Assembly Member for the Atwedie Electoral Area, Patrick Antwi Kakari, told journalists that it took the intervention of firefighters to rescue trapped passengers from the wreckage. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Mr Kakari also disclosed that at least two other accidents had occurred on the same stretch since dawn, leading to heavy traffic and prompting calls for urgent road safety interventions in the area.
