Asrani, born Govardhan Asrani, died in Mumbai at around 4 pm on October 20 after a prolonged illness. The actor's last rites were also performed in the city at the Santacruz crematorium. Asrani graduated from Rajasthan College, Jaipur, and worked as a voice artist at All India Radio to pay for his education. He arrived in Mumbai in 1962 to become an actor. He said, "He was not feeling well and was admitted to Arogya Hospital four days ago due to breathing issues. He passed away at around 3 PM today. His last rites were performed at 8 PM today. The family is back home now… very sad." On the work front, He was last seen in the JioHostar series The Trial Season 2 opposite Kajol. The veteran actor had worked in over 350 films in his career and even worked as a lead actor in Gujarati films during the 1970s and 1980s.
