VISAKHAPATNAM: ASR district collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar announced that the administration is fully prepared to face Cyclone Montha, with 163 villages identified as vulnerable and 63 rehabilitation centres established across the district. Addressing the media at the collectorate on Monday, he said preventive measures have been implemented in 12 at-risk mandals, with police personnel on standby. Dinesh Kumar stated, “Eleven helipads have been placed on emergency status, and satellite phones have been activated to ensure uninterrupted communication. Special teams from mobile network companies are also on standby. Fourteen road repair teams have been deployed, and 82 vulnerable points have been identified, with police and revenue personnel stationed accordingly.” Each rehabilitation centre has been stocked with food, medicines, and essential supplies. Water levels in streams, reservoirs, and rivers are being closely monitored, with controlled releases underway from full reservoirs. Assistant Engineers have been assigned to oversee landslide-prone areas. To alert the public, announcements are being made through loudspeakers in places of worship, public areas, and autorickshaws. Twenty-one cranes, power saws, and other equipment have been stationed at five check-posts to clear fallen trees and branches. Electricity staff have been mobilised, with additional personnel on standby at substations. Pregnant women within ten days of their due date are being relocated to hospitals as a precaution.
