Asia Cup 2025: Amid Pakistan's Boycott Drama, India Announce Rest Day Ahead Of Oman Clash

The Indian team held a practice session on Tuesday evening at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai ahead of their third and final Group A clash with Oman slated to be played on Friday. The team though will enjoy a rest day on Wednesday with the BCCI confirming there will be on practice session or media interaction.
“Please note there will be no media and practice session tomorrow. It is a rest day. Will convey practice and PC time for pre-match PC for Thursday later,” read a statement from the board.
The India squad, led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, trained at the ICC Academy from around 6 pm local time under the watchful gaze of head coach Gautam Gambhir. According to a report in The Indian Express, the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya bowled with short run-ups while working on hitting particular lengths.
Both India and Pakistan players trained at the same venue which has two grounds. Pakistani team reached the venue by 8 pm. A screen was erected to separate Oval 1 and Oval 2 before Indian team’s training session concluded which ensured that the two players won’t see each other, the report adds.
Pakistan Boycott Threat
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly threatened to pull out of their next Asia Cup fixture against UAE unless match referee Andy Pycroft is removed from the roster. Pakistan alleges that Pycroft’s action reek of biasness as he asked the two captains – Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Agha – to not shake hands when the toss for their Group A match was held last week.
Later, the Indian team snubbed Pakistan after the contest ended with Suryakumar and Shivam Dube heading straight to the dressing room without waiting for their counterparts for the customary post-match handshakes. The act irked Pakistan as they lodged complaint with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) citing India’s unsportsmanlike conduct.
