Asda to roll out major change across 1,200 UK stores by April 2026

Evri ParcelShops are set to be introduced in all Asda supermarkets nationwide following a new partnership between the two firms. These counters, which allow customers to send, collect, and return parcels, are already based in over 9,000 local businesses in the UK. The Evri service was recently launched in more than 300 Asda locations, including its Express convenience sites, various supermarkets , and superstores. By April 2026, ParcelShops will be available in Asda's complete list of 1,200 stores across the UK . In light of the update, Chris Hall, Vice President, Logistics at Asda, said: "One of the things that sets Asda apart is our unmatchable mix of services, so we’re delighted to be partnering with Evri to be able to launch a brand-new one just in time for the festive season. "We know how much our customers value convenience, and this service gives them the flexibility to collect or return an Evri parcel whether they’re popping in for a pint of milk in one of our Express stores or doing their big shop in one of our larger stores." Evri’s announcement follows its disclosure of a £50 million investment in June 2025, as it aims to double its Parcelshop and Locker network to 25,000 locations by 2030. You can find your nearest ParcelShop by visiting Evri's website here . Martijn de Lange, Chief Executive at Evri, added: "This landmark agreement with fellow Leeds-based Asda strengthens our commitment to creating a delivery network fit for the modern UK shopper, directly giving them choice, convenience and control. "We are excited about the opportunities this new partnership will bring, helping to us further drive our ambition to expand our capabilities and deliver an even more comprehensive, cost-effective, and customer-focused service across the UK and beyond." The news of Evri's new ParcelShops comes amid growing concern about the future of Post Offices in the UK. According to the Daily Record , approximately 6,000 Post Offices nationwide are currently at risk of permanent closure, and earlier in April, over 100 were set to be 'offloaded' as part of a move to fully franchise its network. The Government launched a Green Paper consultation earlier in 2025 on the future of the Post Office, which subsequently concluded this month. This open consultation aimed to gather public opinion to shape the Government's plans for Post Offices over the next decade and beyond. Amidst the consultation, Neil Brocklehurst, Post Office CEO, said in September: "Post Office has been part of the everyday fabric of British life for almost 400 years. But we cannot afford to stand still. "Digital technologies have transformed how we shop, transact and communicate. And like any modern retailer, we must evolve to meet customer demand and sell the products and services which will drive revenue for the postmasters and partners who operate our branch network. "We want to work with Government to develop a clear vision for Post Office to navigate the next decade and our Green Paper response sets out how we propose to do that. "For me, it means strengthening our position on UK high streets and in rural communities to deliver those face-to-face services which so many people value, whilst also developing our online offer to become a more commercial, forward-thinking and sustainable business. "Post Offices can play a central role to revitalise our high streets, drive economic growth and modernise government services. I look forward to working with our postmasters, partners, customers and Government as we continue to transform this vital organisation and I’m confident we will see a strong and vibrant Post Office network across the UK for decades to come."
