Asda is reviving its 'Winter Warmer' scheme across 212 cafes from today (November 1) until the end of February 2026. The deal allows anyone over 60 to enjoy soup, bread and unlimited tea or coffee for just £1 during the colder months . Customers have the option to choose between tomato or chicken soup as part of the seasonal initiative. They can also upgrade the meal deal to include a small latte, cappuccino , or speciality tea for an extra 55p, or to a medium for £1.10. Last year, Asda's Winter Warmer project served half a million £1 meals to pensioners. Its 2025 return comes as millions of older adults are cutting back on essentials amid heightened financial pressures. In light of the initiative, Jordan Cummings, Buying Manager, Cafes and Concessions at Asda , said: "We know winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they continue to worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and on a fixed income. Last year alone we sold over half a million meals showing the vital need for this initiative." Earlier this year, research from Age UK revealed that over two million older adults had cut back on food and groceries due to worries about living costs. Around five million people also significantly reduced their home's heating to save, representing a 38% increase since 2024. Beyond alleviating financial pressures, Asda's initiative seeks to combat loneliness during Christmas . Its own research shows that one in 10 older adults are unsure they will speak to anyone from December 15 to January 1. Mr Cummings continued: "By bringing Winter Warmers back this November, we hope it will continue to be just as impactful across the winter months for those who need it most, as well as offering a relaxed social environment to come and chat to others." Asda made its festive delivery bookings available to passholders from October 15, with others able to book starting October 21. These deliveries are scheduled between December 21 and 23. Asda's online advice reads: "Pre-order your festive centrepieces and let us take the hassle out of your festive food shop. Whether delivered directly to your door or collected from one of our stores, your festive feast will make this a Christmas celebration to remember. "You can now order from our Food to Order range by booking a Christmas delivery or collection slot between 21st–23rd December." This year, ASDA's Christmas range includes more than 500 products, including festive classics and various new items. A delicious 'Gingerbread Man-shaped Belgian Chocolate Mousse', 'Exceptional Hot Maple Pigs in Blanket' and pre-prepared 'Turkey with all the Trimmings' boxes are among the foods it is offering. In September, Linsay Taylor, senior director for new product development at Asda explained: "Christmas is without a doubt the most magical time of year, but we understand it can also feel can also feel overwhelming. This year we’ve developed a range of festive favourites for all meal occasions we know our customers will love along with solution-based innovation for a smooth and seamless day.
