The requisite rites and activities slated for the first day to make way for the burial of the late Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, have been duly observed.
The four-day rites commenced on Monday, September 15, 2025, with hundreds trooping into the Manhyia Palace to pay their last respects to the late Queen.
This followed the officiation of the initial rites at dawn, making the King the first to see the remains of Her Majesty, as tradition demands.
The first day was dedicated to Churches and Clergy, Political Parties, Educational Institutions, NGOs, Telecommunication Companies, Corporate Institutions, all recognised associations and the General Public.
As part of the event, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, together with Nananom sat in state to receive sympathies from guests.
Particular attention was given to traditional priests, who have played a central role in the burial rites by leading rituals and demonstrating their mystical powers and spiritual connections
Among the attendees were Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Businessman Dr Kwaku Oteng, Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjo, and KMA Mayor Mr Richard Ofori Agyeman.
There were also delegations from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Freemasonry, SIC Insurance Plc, Knights and Ladies of Marshall, Total Energies, Volta River Authority, the Ghana Education Service (GES) and many others.
The carefully planned burial rites will witness a series of activities from September 15 to September 18, when the rites will come to an end.
Her Majesty will be buried on the last day at Breman Baamu.
Filing past is reserved to take place sequentially among dignitaries and the general public from September 15 to 18, between 5 am and 5 pm, except for the last day, when it will end at 11 am to make way for a burial service at 3 pm.
A key point to note is the institution of the restriction on outdoor movement effective 7 pm on September 18 to make way for the burial of Her Majesty.
