Asantehemaa Dɔte Yie: Essential Service Providers Excluded From Thursday Night Curfew

Manhyia Palace has announced the exclusion of essential service providers from the September 18 night’s outdoor movement ban.

This means that they can carry on with their duties without any hindrance during the day and night.

They include the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Ghana Ambulance Service and the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

This was announced by Nana Effah Appenteng, the Acting Chief of Staff of the Palace in a statement issued on September 15, 2025.

He affirmed that the restriction on movement on the night of Thursday, emphasising that schools and markets are to be closed on that day.

It, however noted that Banks, Pharmaceutical Stores, Fuel Stations, Restaurants and Transport Service Providers are exempted from any restriction on business activities during the day.

The ban was instituted as part of the burial rites of the late Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
