Artisan bakery opening in Greater Manchester to hand out free treats to first 1,000 customers

A popular London bakery has announced it will be opening a store in Manchester - and the first 1,000 customers will receive a free treat over its two opening days. The iconic bakery Bread Ahead, with a store in Borough Market, are bringing their world-famous doughnuts to Harvey Nichols, Manchester , for a three month pop up. Currently there are several stores across the UK and beyond including Kings Cross, South Kensington, Wembley, Granary Square, and stores in Dubai and Riyadh. The Manchester store is set to open on Monday, November 3, for three months. And on their first two days of being open, the artisan bakery will hand out 1,000 free doughnuts. Founder Matthew Jones says: “We’ve long wanted to branch out regionally, and this felt like the perfect way to do it. Baking and education are so important to us, so we’re really excited to bring our doughnuts to the people of Manchester and thrilled to be working with Harvey Nichols. The bakery began with just three products and a single market stall, but today it has grown into a celebrated bakery and baking school renowned for its world-famous doughnuts, artisanal sourdoughs, and classic British bakes. With five London bakeries, three with baking schools, and bakeries across the Middle East, Bread Ahead has become a trusted name for quality and craftsmanship alike. During lockdown, the brand ran free daily online baking workshops which brought joy and a sense of community to people across the globe, building a huge following of bread and doughnut lovers. Bread Ahead has also published two bestselling cookbooks and continues to share its passion for accessible, hands-on baking with people everywhere. The Bread Ahead pop-up store can be found on the ground floor of Harvey Nichols on Cathedral Street, Manchester. On Monday, November 3, Bread Ahead will be serving up the first 500 free doughnuts from 10am (one per person, while stocks last. Then there will be another 500 free doughnuts ready to roll out from 10am on Tuesday November 4.
