Art, Guitars, Pokémon, and Holiday Cheer: Here’s What’s Happening in Connecticut This Week

From art to Pokémon and Christmas shopping, Connecticut's Nov. 6–9 weekend is packed with music, markets, and fun. CONNECTICUT — Connecticut is easing into November with a weekend that hits all the right notes — literally and figuratively. From art studio tours and live guitar performances to Pokémon adventures and early Christmas shopping, Nov. 6–9 offers a little something for everyone. Whether you’re feeling festive, creative, or competitive, here’s what’s happening across the Nutmeg State this weekend. The city of Bridgeport becomes one big gallery this weekend for the 17th Annual Bridgeport Art Trail, running Nov. 6–9. This citywide celebration features open studios, exhibitions, performances, and hands-on workshops at more than 30 venues. Visitors can meet artists, tour creative spaces, and catch live music and spoken-word events throughout the city. It’s a rare chance to see Bridgeport’s thriving art scene up close — and maybe take home an original piece. It’s never too early to start your holiday shopping, and the New England Christmas Festival, happening Nov. 7–9 at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, makes it easy (and fun). This massive indoor marketplace features more than 300 exhibitors selling handmade crafts, gourmet goodies, jewelry, home décor, and holiday gifts. There’s also a specialty food pavilion — perfect for sampling your way through the season. Music lovers can head to Hartford for the 3rd Annual Connecticut Guitar Guild Festival, taking place Nov. 7–9. The festival celebrates the artistry of guitar performance with concerts, workshops, and masterclasses featuring both classical and contemporary musicians. It’s hosted by the Connecticut Guitar Guild and draws players and fans from across New England. Support local makers at the Slater Memorial Museum Artisan Craft Show in Norwich on Saturday, Nov. 8. The event showcases handcrafted goods from regional artists — everything from pottery and textiles to jewelry and fine art. It’s a perfect place to find unique gifts while exploring one of Connecticut’s most beautiful small museums. Calling all trainers! The Connecticut Science Center in Hartford is hosting Pokémon Day on Saturday, Nov. 8. Fans of all ages can enjoy themed science experiments, trading-card activities, and appearances by costumed Pokémon characters. It’s an especially fun outing for kids, but adults will find plenty of nostalgia, too — even if you can't tell a Charizard from a Bulbasaur. On Sunday, Nov. 9, runners, walkers, and UConn fans can take part in the Husky Run & Ruck, held on the University of Connecticut’s main campus in Storrs. Participants can choose between a 5K run or a weighted “ruck” walk, with proceeds benefiting veterans and student programs. It’s fitness for a great cause — and a perfect way to close out the weekend. After nearly two months of outdoor adventures, Walktober wraps up this weekend in the Last Green Valley, headquartered in Danielson. This beloved series of guided walks and hikes celebrates eastern Connecticut’s scenic trails, historic landmarks, and small-town charm. The final weekend includes nature walks, foliage tours, and family-friendly outings — a great excuse to squeeze in one last fall hike. From guitars to galleries, science centers to scenic trails, Connecticut is bursting with creativity and community this weekend. Whether you’re browsing Bridgeport’s art studios, hunting for holiday treasures at Mohegan Sun, or catching your favorite Pokémon in Hartford, this November weekend is shaping up to be anything but ordinary.
