A Phoenix-based coffee company, Graveyard Shift Coffee, has lost up to 40 percent of its business after the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix cancelled its bookings.
The cancellation occurred after a single complaint deemed the company’s name and logo, which features a skeleton in scrubs, offensive.
Graveyard Shift Coffee had been serving healthcare workers at the hospital for two years, with its name and logo specifically designed to empathize with late-shift staff.
Co-owner Tyler Tremaine stated that the company was not given the option to cover the logo or name before being barred from the hospital.
The small family business, which targets a niche market of overnight workers, is now seeking new customers to mitigate the significant loss of income.
