Ariana Grande fans have asked ‘what is the point’ after being met with five-figure length online queues during the pre-sale for her UK tour. Last month, the singer announced details for her Eternal Sunshine Tour , which will take place across North America and the UK between June and August next year. Similar to how tickets were sold for shows to see the likes of Taylor Swift and Oasis, fans were required to sign up early and enter a ballot to try and secure pre-sale access to tickets. Those who were successful in the ballot have been given their first opportunity this morning (September 16) to secure tickets to Ariana’s five shows in London via the likes of Ticketmaster and AXS . Stay connected with our City Life newsletter here Ariana, who was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Wicked, will play The O2 on August 15, 16, 19, 20 and 23. These are the only UK dates to be announced so far. But fans have taken to social media to share their frustration at the length of the queues, with one screenshot, which was possibly doctored to hype fans up, suggesting there were more than two million fans in line. One person wrote: “There are currently over 2 MILLION people trying to get tickets to Ariana Grande’s “the eternal sunshine tour” in London.” However, most screenshots had a slightly more realistic number of around 200,000 people waiting virtually. One fan wrote: “Try 200k. What is the point in having a pre sale if everyone has access to it.” Another said: “I’m at 15248…. My friend is below 5000.” One other commented: “We are so over already.” Sharing a ‘well it’s over’ meme, another fan wrote: “150,000 people ahead of me in the queue for Ariana Grande at the O2.” One other asked: “How tf is this considered a presale.” Another commented: “have therapy today… just gonna be ranting about how I lost the Ariana grande ticketmaster war.” Fans waiting in the AXS queue were also issued with an update, warning that there was ‘very high demand’ for the shows. One fan received a message: “There is very high demand for this show. Please expect longer wait times than usual, we’ll get you through as soon as possible.” However some fans were able to successfully get tickets. One person posted online: “I’M SEEING ARIANA GRANDE NEXT YEAR.” Another celebrated by writing: “WON THE ****ING ARIANA GRANDE PRESALE WARRR.” Another commented: “IM SEEING ARIANA GRANDE FOR THE 4TH TIME OF MY LIFE.” Keeping up with the all-caps phase, one other fan wrote: “ARIANA GRANDE WILL BE SEEING ME.” The Eternal Sunshine Tour will mark Ariana’s first return to the stage in six years following her Sweetener World Tour, which drew more than 1.3 million fans across nearly 100 shows. General sale for the UK shows will begin on Thursday, September 18 at 10am via Ticketmaster and AXS. Join our Manc Life WhatsApp group HERE
