Arby’s releases “first-of-its-kind” menu option

Arby's releases first-of-its-kind menu option

The fast-food sandwich chain Arby’s has introduced a new “first-of-its-kind” option to its menus nationwide: steak nuggets.
The nuggets are made from hand-cut, bite-sized pieces of steak, seasoned with garlic and pepper.
The company says they are a “premium protein option, able to be enjoyed with a fork or just your fingers.”
Newsweek contacted Arby’s for comment by email outside of regular working hours.
Why It Matters
The launch of Arby’s steak nuggets signals a notable shift in the fast food sector, in which competition to introduce innovative, protein-centric items is intensifying.
With consumers seeking more diverse meat options and convenience, Arby’s move comes amid a year marked by menu overhauls at other chains—including Taco Bell’s re-launch of its Crispy Chicken Nuggets and McDonald’s addition of McCrispy Strips.
Restaurants often launch new menu items as a way to stay relevant in a hyper competitive environment and increase foot traffic.
What To Know
The steak nuggets are available in three menu options:
The Steak Nuggets entrée comes in a 5- or 9-count serving, accompanied by hickory BBQ sauce.
The Steak Nugget Sandwich comes with steak nuggets on a toasted bun with havarti cheese, crispy onions, tangy pickles, and mayonnaise.
Steak Nugget Bowl features steak nuggets over a base of white cheddar mac ‘n cheese, topped with crispy onions.
The steak nuggets are available for a limited time at Arby’s locations nationwide. Pricing varies by region, with the five-piece portion ranging from $5.29 to $7.19.
A five-piece serving contains approximately 340 calories and 17 grams of protein, according to Arby’s.
Arby’s has a total of 3,317 locations across the U.S. spanning a total of 48 states.
What People Are Saying
Jeff Baker, chief marketing officer at Arby’s, said in a statement: “Who doesn’t love tender and savory steak? But, until now, it’s been inconvenient to eat, particularly on the go. That’s why we created this new innovative product. Two of America’s favorite foods—nuggets and steak—combined to create Arby’s Steak Nuggets. No knife needed, fork optional.”
Describing the product, Arby’s said: “Steak Nuggets are seared and smoked, brought to you with convenience. A whole new way to nugget, Arby’s Steak Nuggets are a premium protein option, able to be enjoyed with a fork or just your fingers.”
What Happens Next
The steak nuggets will be available for a limited time only. Arby’s has not specified an end date for their availability.
