Apple Maps is the next major app expected to feature ad placements Apple Maps users could start seeing ads in the app as soon as next year, according to a new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. This is similar to Google Maps and other mapping apps and the move is said to be part of a broader internal initiative to expand Apple’s advertising business across iOS. Similar to Google Maps and other mapping apps, Apple’s plan is to allow restaurants and other businesses with brick-and-mortar locations to pay to promote themselves in search results, the newsletter revealsThe Cupertino-based company "is focusing on Apple Maps, which will allow restaurants and other businesses to pay to have their details featured more prominently within the app’s searches.” There are no further details, but these ads could be targeted based on user location."I'm told the Maps version will have a better interface than what Google and other companies offer inside of mapping services. The Apple approach also will leverage AI to ensure that results are relevant and useful," the writer wrote in the report.ALSO READ: Zohran Mamdani lied about the 9/11 story and his Muslim aunt: How NYC mayoral candidate's false claim was busted by the internetWhat it means for users?Apple Maps is the next major app expected to feature ad placements. Apple is reportedly planning to introduce Search Ads within Apple Maps, allowing developers to pay for promoted placements based on user search queries — much like the App Store’s existing ad model. The new model could allow businesses to pay for higher visibility in Maps search results, much like how developers promote apps on the App Store. Under this system, advertisers would bid on targeted keywords so their listings appear at the top when users search for categories such as “restaurants,” “coffee shops,” or “gyms.” This approach aims to help businesses attract more local customers and improve discoverability within Maps.Live EventsGurman also noted that Apple aims to integrate AI technology to deliver highly relevant and useful search results, enhancing user experience while opening a new revenue stream for the company. With Apple planning to bring ads to Maps, the tech giant might help users see more relevant and useful ads that are in line with their interests if Apple uses its user data to deliver targeted ads. But the same ads might also clutter the Apple Maps interface, making it less user-friendly and more distracting. If Apple uses user data for ad targeting, customers might have concerns about their data being used for advertising purposes.ALSO READ: Melania Trump never wanted to live in the US?
