Police are hunting a woman who brutally shoved an elderly passenger off a Boston bus, leaving her with multiple injuries including broken bones.
Disturbing video captured the moment the bully pushed the senior – not once, but twice – off the bus.
The victim gripped onto the bus doors after the first push, but the second shove sent her face first into the concrete sidewalk.
The footage also showed baffled passengers watching in horror, but apparently failing to intervene, as the elderly woman plummeted.
MBTA Transit police said the assault happened at around 1pm on September 8, at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Warren Street in Roxbury.
The unidentified suspect had a baby with her and fled the scene before the police arrived, according to cops.
Transit police released clear surveillance photos of the suspect and are turning to the public for help.
Four images of different angles of the suspect were posted on social media, showing a woman with long red and black hair, pulled back in a ponytail, with a visible tattoo on her neck. She wore a black sweatshirt and light blue jeans.
The department urged anyone with information to contact their criminal investigations unit.
‘You can remain anonymous. Let’s ID her!!’ The department wrote on X.
Boston locals have said they are appalled by the disgusting assault that took place at the Roxbury bus station.
‘It’s horrifying,’ said Joseph Drayton to 7 News Boston. ‘To have an elderly woman pushed like that is reprehensible.’
The seemingly unwarranted attack raised safety concerns and outrage on social media.
‘At least the other riders jumped up to restrain the attacker and help the victim, oh wait, nevermind,’ one post wrote, highlighting how other travelers apparently failed to help.
Another said: ‘What’s even more disturbing is no one intervened… no one stopped her. Just watched.’
Others blamed Mayor Michelle Wu for the lack of public transit safety and violent crime in the city.
‘This is disgusting. But, everyone keep voting Wu!’ One X post said.
Another post read: ‘Not what I would expect from the safest big city like the mayor says.’
Twenty-four homicides have been recorded so far this year, tying the number of violent deaths in all of 2024, according to the Boston Globe. Overall, violent crime has gone down this year, despite the increase in homicides.
The alleged suspect is wanted for assault and battery on an elderly person.
Anyone with tips should contact the MBTA Transit Police and can remain anonymous.
