Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka: A Legacy of Faith, Invention, and Service

Ghana and the world woke up on 11th September 2025 to the sad news of the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, fondly called “The Star of Africa.” Born on 26th August 1948, Apostle Safo lived a life that went beyond himself — a life that blended faith, innovation, and service to humanity.
He was not only the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, a church that combined spirituality with practical solutions to life’s challenges, but also the visionary behind Kantanka Automobile, a Ghana-based automotive company that proved Africa has the capacity to build its own cars, machinery, and technologies. His works in engineering and manufacturing challenged stereotypes and placed Ghana on the map of global innovation.
Apostle Safo was more than a businessman and inventor. He was a pastor, philanthropist, agriculturist, and a father figure to many. His deep belief in self-reliance led him to build tractors, military vehicles, television sets, and other groundbreaking inventions right here on African soil. Through his creativity, he inspired a new generation to believe in the possibilities of African excellence.
Beyond his machines, Apostle Kantanka was known for his generosity. Thousands of people benefited from his scholarships, job opportunities, and acts of kindness. His annual Technology Exhibition became a platform where Ghanaians proudly witnessed the fruits of homegrown talent and innovation.
As news of his passing spread, tributes poured in from government officials, religious leaders, entrepreneurs, and ordinary citizens whose lives were touched by his vision. Many described him as a national treasure who dared to dream big and pushed boundaries that others thought impossible.
Though Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through the Kristo Asafo Mission, Kantanka Automobile, and the countless lives he inspired. He will forever be remembered as a trailblazer, a man of faith, and a true son of Africa who left an indelible mark on history.
Rest well, Apostle. Your star will never fade.
