APC now haven for EFCC fugitives – Babachir Lawal

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and current National Vice Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Babachir Lawal, launched a scathing attack on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, calling it a new refuge for those escaping the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC fugitives). Lawal made the declaration while welcoming former Kogi State governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, who defected to the ADC. He confidently predicted that both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be defeated in the 2027 general election. “It is my belief that more patriots will soon join us even as the PDP self-destructs and the APC becomes a haven for EFCC fugitives,” he stated. Lawal accused the APC of being “delusional,” claiming its only plan was to “write election results even before elections begin.” He asserted, “This is pure delusion because it will not happen. Nigerians will back us to frustrate any criminal manipulation of the 2027 election results.” The former SGF described the ADC as “a party of visionaries and patriots who are fed up with the direction of the country under the leadership of PDP and APC.” Lawal warned, however, that the ADC would not accept every politician defecting from other parties, “lest they corrupt our ideals with attitudes imbibed from their corrupt, undemocratic home parties.” He framed the ADC’s role as essential for national rescue, urging Nigerians to support the party in order to redirect governance in the country. “Every patriotic Nigerian now understands that our country has reached the edge of a cliff. The ADC offers Nigerians an opportunity to make a U-turn, recalibrate, and redirect our governance toward a progressive, people-centric system,” Lawal stated. Lawal also took a direct swipe at the PDP-led administration in Adamawa State, his home state. He criticised Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s government, claiming that in over six years, there were “no people-oriented projects.” “All we get from over six years of PDP governance is a couple of flyovers carrying scanty traffic despite billions of naira accruing to the state. Sometimes, I wonder whether the money leaves Abuja for Yola at all,” he said.
