Anthony Rizzo Makes Bold Proclamation About Former Team

The Chicago Cubs are well on their way to the postseason for the first time since the COVID-shortened 2020 season. Many believe that Chicago has a chance to make a deep postseason run, including former first baseman and fan-favorite, Anthony Rizzo. On Wednesday, Rizzo announced his retirement and decision to join the Cubs organization as an ambassador. Since then, he’s had the chance to sit down with Marquee Sports Network to discuss Chicago’s postseason chances. It’s safe to say that Rizzo believes his former squad has what it takes to make a run this season.”They have a legitimate chance in October,” Rizzo said of this season’s Cubs in the video. It is evident that the former first baseman believes that Chicago has the talent to get past the first round of the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 Cubs advanced to the NLCS.In the early parts of the season, it looked like the Cubs had one of the best offenses in baseball. The trio of Seiya Suzuki, Kyle Tucker and Pete Crow-Armstrong were carrying the offense to a steady division lead.Since the All-Star break, though, the offense has struggled in a mighty way, and the Cubs entered Thursday trailing the Milwaukee Brewers by 5 1/2 games for first place in the National League Central. With just 16 regular season games remaining, Chicago is comfortably in the playoff field, and it would take quite a collapse for it to fall out of the postseason picture. With the way the pitching staff as a whole has performed lately, it is only a matter of time before the Cubs superstars break out and propel into a late October run toward their second World Series in the last 10 seasons.More MLB: Blue Jays Close To Receiving Power Boost From $92.5M Injured Slugger
