Anthony Joshua has gone on a social media call-out of Tyson Fury for an all-British showdown.
Anthony Joshua has reignited his rivalry with Tyson Fury, issuing a public challenge to the ‘Gypsy King’.
In a social media post, Joshua praised Joseph Parker while simultaneously taking a jab at “his dumb friend” Tyson Fury.
The British heavyweight hasn’t stepped into the ring since his loss to Daniel Dubois last year.
Joshua calls out Fury
On Instagram, he wrote: “To my fans: I’ll be lacing up the boots and putting on the gloves very soon – hopefully to smash Fury’s head in and easily dance around his timid left jab.”
The former unified world heavyweight champion is expected to make his return to the ring early next year, with promoter Eddie Hearn telling Sky Sports that the goal is a major fight in the summer, and Tyson Fury remains the top priority opponent.
Joshua’s former opponent, Joseph Parker, is set to face Fabio Wardley, risking his position as the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk’s unified world heavyweight title.
Joshua added, “I’m proud of Joe Parker, even though he’s a competitor. Greats respect each other.
“He’s in the game to fight anyone, anytime – and that’s the DNA of a true general. Unlike his dumb friend Tyson Fury.
“I could devalue his career and record in minutes, but I’ll save that for a potential ‘Gloves Are Off’ if he ever comes back and fights the Great Femi (Joshua).”
“Fabio Wardley, respect to you too. He (Fabio) used to work in recruitment and helped his dad find a job years ago. Let this be proof that nothing is impossible (as long as you can fight, haha).”
Joshua made his callout after he was removed from the recent IBF world heavyweight rankings.
