A hike to Sichuan’s Mount Nama in China turned into a nightmare after a hiker’s attempt to click a picture ended with him losing his life. A spine-chilling video was recently shared online, which went viral and left netizens with a lesson learnt! As per the viral post, the man had untied his safety rope before taking the picture, which is when he accidentally slipped and continued slipping down the icy mountain- finally falling to his death after slipping ‘650 feet’ down the mountain. The 31-year-old man was identified as ‘Hong’, as per The Sun. As per witnesses, the man was also not using an ice axe, which could have helped him regain control while slipping in the snow. The incident, on the other hand, unfolded on September 25, soon after which the video began to go viral. The man was hiking along with a group, where they were climbing a ‘5,588-metre peak’. The man had stepped too close to the ‘crevasse’, which is when he slipped, as per The Sun. The incident only looked further mind-numbing after netizens realised that the rest of the hikers could do nothing but watch the hiker fall. Soon after the man fell, an emergency response was launched, and the man was confirmed dead after being found. Hong’s body was transported to Gongga Mountain Town for his family, as per The Sun. According to Kangding Municipal Education and Sports Bureau officials, the hiker and his group had skipped reporting about their ‘hiking plans’, along with skipping their ‘climbing permits’. Check out the viral post: “Tragedy strikes on Nama Peak, Sichuan! But I feel bad for his family. So I’ll leave it with that,” a user said. “Just another reason not to climb a snowy and icy mountain,” added another. “No ice axe, unclips from the line. A tragic result that might have been prevented with standard safety precautions. Hopefully others on that mountain will learn from this,” added another person in the comments.
