Anna Leigh Waters asserted her dominance on the pickleball court once again, as she won both the women’s singles and women’s doubles events at the Rate Vegas Cup on Sunday, October 26. The American secured her 37th career Triple Crown and sixth of this year at the Darling Tennis Centre in Las Vegas, Nevada, winning eight out of the nine matches played on Championship Sunday. Waters was particularly exceptional in the doubles event alongside her partner Anna Bright, as they took out Tyra Black and Parris Todd in a thrilling final clash, even after dropping the first game. After the match, the top seed said, “I think Anna and I were a little upset we didn’t win that first game, with that ball in the middle. We were both like, ‘Why didn’t one of us go for it?’ But Tyra and Parris were playing absolutely amazing.” (via Pickleball.com) In the singles, however, Waters dominated former tennis pro and 11th seed of the event, Eugenie Bouchard. She played strength to strength against her and bagged an impressive 11-5, 11-5 win with a skillful display. This added to the remarkable record of the 18-year-old, who now boasts a striking 165 career titles, including 55 in singles, 53 in doubles, and 57 in mixed. The youngster has already played over 1000 matches in her career so far, and continues to show sheer dominance with her experience and consistency on the court.
