The Andhra Pradesh Government has directed all District Collectors to ensure that citizens get access to all government-issued certificates, such as caste and birth certificates, only through the Mana Mitra WhatsApp.
Currently, 738 services are available through WhatsApp Governance, with more to be added soon.
Addressing the District Collectors’ Conference at Amaravati on Tuesday, Katamneni Bhaskar, Secretary (Information Technology and Real Time Governance), said Collectors should play a key role in helping citizens tap the platform.
“People should not be made to visit government offices for certificates such as caste, nativity, birth, or death certificates. These must be accessed digitally and securely through Mana Mitra,” he said.
He asked them to promote awareness among the public about use of the platform, and instructed village and ward secretariat staff to visit villages to educate the people.
The Secretary said certificates issued through WhatsApp Governance are digitally safe, integrated with DigiLocker, and backed by blockchain technology, making it impossible to misuse or tamper with them.
