An NBA player went to Provo to watch BYU basketball. This is what he saw from AJ Dybantsa that shocked him.
Keyonte George has been around the best players in the world.
But when the Utah Jazz point guard went down to Provo this summer, he was shocked by what he saw from projected No. 1 draft pick AJ Dybantsa.
“I will say at practice, he probably had one of the most crazy dunks I’ve seen,” George said on KSL Sports Zone.
“Somebody jumped [to block it] and he went off two [feet]. He put the ball like crazy then he dunked it. I looked at [someone] next to me and I was like, ‘Whoever gets him, he is going to be like that,’” George continued.
Dybantsa is entering his first — and very likely only — season at BYU, bringing with him the NBA spotlight to Provo. The Cougars are expected to be a top 10 team and make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
“He is a legit 6-9,” George said. “Obviously, he is going to fill out. But it is really on him: However good he wants to be, he is going to be.”
Dybantsa has worked out with plenty of NBA stars back in high school, including Chris Paul and Kevin Durant.
George said he hasn’t played against Dybantsa yet, but will be monitoring his progress from just up to the road in Salt Lake City.
