Amrita Rao Says She Has Been 'Selective' With Films Because Of Shah Rukh Khan | Here's How

Amrita Rao has made her comeback with Jolly LLB 3. She recently appeared on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast and opened up about her journey in films. She also recalled working with Shah Rukh Khan in Main Hoon Na, one of her most talked-about films. She revealed that the superstar would meet her mother during filming breaks, and even gave her advice about signing films.
Amrita Rao said, “He said something very nice that 200 filmein aayengi, par humein sirf do filmein karni hai. Aur fir usmein se vo ek film ho that people are waiting for (He told me I will be offered 200 films, but I must sign only two in the hope that one of them is the one people are waiting for.) That has been my criteria while signing films, and that’s why I have been so selective in this journey.”
Amrita also said, “He used to observe that I have newcomers with me and used to take that nervous energy from us. Every time the first take was the best take, there were no second takes because his temperament was like second take dena hi nahi hai (don’t ask for a second take), be so focused ki second take dena hi naa pade (ensure you don’t need to).”
Now, Amrita Rao is seen in Jolly LLB 3, reprising her role from the first franchise. Directed by Subhash Kapoor and backed by Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare under Star Studio18 and Kangra Talkies, the film brings back both Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar as rival lawyers, each named Jolly. Joining them once again are Saurabh Shukla as Justice Tripathi, Amrita Rao as Sandhya Tyagi, and Huma Qureshi as Pushpa Pandey Mishra.
The Jolly LLB franchise began in 2013 with Arshad in the lead, followed by Jolly LLB 2 (2017) with Akshay. The latest instalment builds on the courtroom drama-comedy blend that made the earlier films successful. While some critics feel Jolly LLB 3 doesn’t surpass its predecessors, some reviews also note that it offers enough humour, engaging performances, and legal drama to make it a worthy continuation of the much-loved series.
News18 Showsha gave the film 4/5 stars. “Jolly LLB 3 is a fine example of how cinema can tackle pressing social issues with humour, without ever diluting their seriousness. The film seamlessly balances comedy and gravity, making the narrative both thought-provoking and highly entertaining. With its sharp writing and powerful performances, the film delivers a complete cinematic experience. It is pure entertainment and a must-watch,” part of our review read.
