American Developer Joins BBMP Workers To Clean Bengaluru Streets, Wins Hearts Online

In an inspiring display of civic spirit, an American citizen has captured the internet’s attention after joining the BBMP pourakarmikas to help clean Bengaluru’s streets. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tony Klor (@tonykmontana) The man, identified as Tony Kloer, holds a five-year visa to stay in India and has been residing in Bengaluru for some time. In a video that has gone viral on social media, Tony is seen sweeping a pedestrian sidewalk alongside the city’s civic workers, matching their pace and energy. Dressed in a saree and an overshirt of the sanitation staff and armed with a broom, he smiles as he works shoulder-to-shoulder with them. Sharing the video on social media, Tony wrote: “I’m joining the heroes of BBMP as a pourakarmika.” The post was accompanied by a caption referencing a friend’s remark about the city’s dirty footpaths, to which Tony responded with action, not words. The clip, which quickly gained traction online, clocking around 8,000 likes and 1 lakh thirty thousand views, has drawn widespread praise from Bengalureans who hailed his gesture as a lesson in civic responsibility. Many users applauded his humility and sense of community, pointing out that it often takes an outsider to remind locals of the importance of respecting those who keep the city clean. Tony Klor, the founder of Catoff Gaming, moved to India last year, and he says he is bullish on the developer scene here. “The intellectual capital in India is phenomonal and second to none,” he said in an interview with the Hindustan Times. Despite having faced hardships like getting scammed multiple times, he says he is in love with the Indian culture, festivals, people, and food, and does not intend to go back home to the US.
