Ring is quite a popular name when it comes to home security. It’s more specifically known for video doorbells and cameras. Now, the Amazon-owned company has launched its new cameras with “Retinal Vision” technology. Alongside the support of 2K and 4K resolution, the brand has packed these cameras with AI-powered features.
Ring launches new sharper and smarter cameras
The new Ring cameras come with a new technology dubbed the “Retinal Vision.” The technology aims to enhance the recorded footage and make it more lifelike. It brings up to 10x zoom support and improved performance in low-light scenarios. The company adds that its new tech will enable users to spot even a tiny bit of detail in the night.
Alongside the new tech, Ring is also pushing new AI-powered features. A tool called “Video Descriptions” will explain what exactly caused the camera to trigger a notification instead of just saying “Motion Detected.” For example, alerts may read “person at the front door” or “dog spotted in the yard.” This feature will be available with the paid Ring subscription plan.
AI tools like Alexa+ Greetings, which let Amazon’s assistant handle deliveries or ask visitors questions, alongside Familiar Feature, which recognizes household members and frequent visitors to avoid duplicate alerts, have been announced as well. Both of these features will be rolled out later in December this year.
The most surprising announcement is the new “Search Party” feature
Perhaps the most surprising announcement of the launch is the “Search Party.” It’s a community-powered feature that aims to reunite lost dogs with their owners. When someone marks their pet as “lost,” all the nearby Ring cameras automatically start looking for possible matches. If a resemblance is found, the owner will be notified alongside the footage. The Search Party will start with dogs in November, with cats and other animals expected to follow later.
Ring’s new camera lineup includes Wired Doorbell Pro (priced at $249.99), Wired Doorbell Plus (priced at $179.99), Outdoor Cam Pro (priced at $199, $299 for PoE), Floodlight Cam Pro (priced at $279.99), Wired Doorbell Elite (priced at $499.99), Spotlight Cam Pro (priced at $249.99, $349.98 PoE), and Indoor Cam Plus (priced at $59.99). The devices are up for pre-order, and the shipping is expected to start soon.
