What Happened? On September 30, 2025, Amazon announced the launch of four new Alexa+ Echo devices. These devices are the next generation of the Echo line-up and are purpose-built for the Alexa+ generative AI, which launched earlier this year. The new devices are the Echo Dot Max (2025), Echo Studio (2025), Echo Show 8 (2025), and Echo Show 11 (2025).
All new devices offer users better processing, memory, and AI capabilities in comparison with their predecessors.
Each device features a new design style, giving users a refined experience.
Amazon is introducing new custom-designed silicon chips (AZ3 and AZ3 Pro) with the new Echo devices for better AI integration.
The four new devices will use Omnisense, a custom sensor for ambient AI, giving Alexa access to the surrounding environment.
Buyers of these new Echo devices get access to Alexa+ out of the box.
Why Is This Important? Since the launch of Alexa+ earlier this year, its access has been limited to certain devices or locked behind a paywall. With these new Echo devices, Amazon is finally able to give users access to its most advanced AI model right out of the box. The new Echo Dot Max features a new sound system with three times the bass compared to its predecessor.
Despite bringing a more compact design, the new Echo Studio doesn’t sacrifice sound quality, as it supports Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.
Both the Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11 feature improvements to their display quality, bring a better front-facing camera, and a new audio architecture.
