Products can be recalled for multiple reasons, from fire hazard to allergy concerns but in any case, customers should heed retailer warnings and refrain from using or consuming them. This is because the consequences could be fatal. Over the last few weeks, Amazon, Tesco, Lidl, Next, TK Maxx, Mitchum, and eBay have been just some of UK retailers who have recalled products. If you’ve bought a product that you’re really excited about, such as a new food item you’ve been waiting to try out or a nifty gadget that caught your eye, it can be frustrating when you’re instructed to return it or leave it be. Such items can range from air fryers to kids’ clothing and it may be hard to keep track of warnings that are issued, especially if you’re not used to hanging out on the Food Standards Agency or other similar website. With that in mind, for your convenience, we have rounded up some of the latest product recalls from UK retailers to make sure Brits are in the know as to what they can snap up – and what they should steer clear of and why. Tesco has issued an alert regarding one of its products amid fears over potential bacterial contamination. The retail giant is now recalling batches of its Tesco Kind & Pure Facial Cleansing Wipes, as they may be ‘unsafe for use’. Microbiological testing has identified the presence of ‘ Pluralibacter gergoviae ‘ in 20 specific batches. Tesco’s recall precisely concerns packs of ‘Tesco Kind & Pure 25 Facial Cleansing Wipes 163g’ and ‘Tesco Kind & Pure Radiant Facial Cleansing Wipes Vitamin C 25 Pack 159g’. If you have purchased an affected product, do not use it. Customers should return these products to their nearest Tesco store for a full refund, with or without a receipt. Tesco Kind & Pure 25 Facial Cleansing Wipes 163g with batch codes: And for Tesco Kind & Pure Radiant Facial Cleansing Wipes Vitamin C 25 Pack 159g, the batch codes are: The two high street retailers have recalled a variety of girls’ summer dresses and outfit sets from the Miss clothing range that “present risks of strangulation and choking.” Parents have been urged to “cease use immediately”. An official notice states that the affected items feature decorative draw cords that exceed the maximum permissible length and so “while worn, the cord may become entangled and tighten across the child’s neck, leading to strangulation, entrapment or choking,” the risk description reads. Next customers should return them to store where a full refund will be provided. Matalan purchases will need to be returned to the Miss brand itself. Shoppers should create a return label on the Royal Mail website . Lidl has issued an urgent recall for a popular air fryer amid fears that it could be a “fire hazard”. The German budget retailer has shared a recall notice for the Tower eight litre dual basket air fryer , which it had sold in its stores. All stock with the T17129L product code has been affected. If you own one of the affected models, stop using it immediately. Customers who bought affected air fryers have been urged to contact the supplier directly through www.tower-safety.co.uk. They will then be able to see if their particular product has been affected and can access instructions for returning it. Tesco, Argos, Poundland, B&M and other popular UK stores have issued a warning after a range of Tower Air Fryers were recalled. The Air Fryers are at risk of overheating, which can cause fires and result in them igniting during use. Six models of Tower air fryers are affected by the recall, all in black. They have been sold at a number of retailers including Tesco, Lidl, Argos, B&M, DID, Poundland, Robert Dyas and the Tower Housewares website. These are the models impacted by the recall: A spokesman for the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) warned that the air fryers did not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. Deodorant maker Mitchum has advised customers to check the batch numbers on its products as it works to remove affected items from store shelves following reports of injuries. The company issued an apology after users reported developing “painful” and “itchy” underarm rashes from using its deodorants . Anyone experiencing these reactions should stop using the affected products “immediately.” Taking to Instagram, the company stated: “Some of you told us that you have experienced temporary irritation after using selected batches of Mitchum 48-hour 100ml roll on, sold in the UK, Ireland and South Africa .” Mitchum clarified: “Not all batches have been affected by the issue, and you can tell if your deodorant has been by checking the batch number at the bottom of the bottle. These are the products that have been affected.” No other products in the brand’s portfolio are affected by the issue. Mitchum assured that the issue has been resolved and that they are working to remove the “small amount of product remaining on shelf”. “We advise those experiencing issues to stop using the product immediately and to contact our teams at customerenquiries@mitchum.com or on 0800 085 2716,” a spokesperson added. Amazon has recalled a Type-C Power Adapter because it “presents a serious risk of fire as the mains supply cord has excessive resistance, and the fuse has insufficient granular filler,” asper the Office for Product Safety and Standards. Model SM65CL-01 with SKU 6-DY15-B0L25-HM65 is described as a “black rectangular power adapter marked with 65w in the right corner.” The listing has been removed by Amazon and is no longer for sale. TK Maxx has warned that one of the store’s products contained a potentially harmful chemical. The Byblos Blu eau de toilette perfume contains Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, also known as Lyral or HICC. The compound is not authorised for use in cosmetics by manufacturers in Europe due to the risk of allergic reactions in sensitised individuals. The recall affects the perfumes with TJK style numbers of 898378,898370 and 898365. The Byblos Blu eua de toillete perfume was sold in TK Maxx stores between January and March 2025. If you have purchased this product, please stop using it immediately and return to any TK Maxx store. You can get a full refund or replacement.
