Amazon announced four new Echo devices today that have been built from the ground up for Alexa+. You’ll find new custom designed silicon and the new Omnisense sensor fusion platform that is said to enable “smarter, more personalized, and proactive Alexa+ experiences.”
The four new devices include a pair of higher-end Echo smart speakers known as Echo Dot Max and Echo Studio, as well as a pair of newly designed Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11 smart displays.
The heart of the operation on the new gear are a pair of new custom-designed silicon chips – AZ3 and AZ3 Pro. Amazon says they feature “all-new AI Accelerator designed to run AI edge models of the future” that results in better conversation detection, its best microphone array yet., and more, but that’s just in the Echo Dot Max.
The more premium Echo Studio, Echo Show 8, and Echo Show 11 run on the AZ3 Pro chip, which “builds on the power of AZ3’s audio capabilities, adding support for state-of-the-art language models and vision transformers.”
