Kuwait, October 26 (QNA) - The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "Aman," one of the centers of the Qatar Social Work Foundation, participated in the 54th Conference of the International Organization for Women Empowerment and Capacity Building held in Kuwait, under the theme "Social Work in the Arab World: Reality and Aspirations." Social consultant at Aman, Dr. Mariam Al Malki, presented a paper at the conference on rapid response to crises and disasters, showcasing Qatar's experience in social work and the provision of social protection. She also highlighted the role of Aman and the key services it provides to women, children, and victims of family breakdown due to violence. Dr. Al Malki emphasized Qatar's commitment to supporting social work, noting that civil society organizations in the country provide social protection for all beneficiaries, including women, children, and other members of society. She explained that Aman operates under the umbrella of the Qatar Social Work Foundation, aiming to shed light on social protection mechanisms and programs designed for targeted groups, including women, children, and victims of family breakdown. The center also implements specific measures and programs to prevent violence and respond effectively to cases at risk of abuse. Dr. Al Malki further highlighted Aman's focus on rapid crisis response, citing its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and how services were delivered to target groups through remote work arrangements. Aman's participation in the conference, which was organized in cooperation with the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, the National Society for Combating Community Violence in Kuwait, and the Kuwait Association for Social Work, reflects the center's commitment to strengthening community, regional, and international partnerships with government bodies, civil society institutions, and the public and private sectors. Aman is a member of the Advisory Council of the International Organization for Women Empowerment and Capacity Building in Kuwait, which aims to stay abreast of developments in the Arab region regarding the support of women, children, and family issues.
