The 1-7 New Orleans Saints travel to the west coast to take on the 5-2 Los Angeles Rams as 14.5 road underdogs. This will be rookie quarterback Tyler Shough’s first NFL start, which is about as tough as it gets against a strong Rams defense. Shough will need help from his running game, which recently lost Kendre Miller, while veteran Alvin Kamara is considered questionable. Kamara has held on to the lead back role in New Orleans, but there is little doubt that poor quarterback play and age has slowed him down considerably. He has just one touchdown, which came in Week 1, while his receiving workload has taken a hit from previous seasons. Overal he is still RB23 in PPR leagues, so he’s still startable in fantasy, but has lost almost all of his upside. Kamara was limited in all three of the Saints practices this week and ended up being officially questionable. Head coach Kellen Moore told reporters that Kamara is “trending well,” per Matthew Paras. So, it appears that Kamara should be able to go against the Rams. The Rams have allowed zero rushing touchdowns to running backs and one receiving touchdown. Overall they’ve given up the third-fewest fantasy points and the sixth-best yards per attempt to running backs as well. It doesn’t look great for Kamara’s chances, but with Miller out and Devin Neal as his main competition, I’d still expect Kamara to see enough work to be a flex start in most leagues.
