Ally McCoist believes that Rangers need at least three transfer windows before they can provide Danny Rohl with a squad capable of challenging. The recruitment model at Ibrox has been under real scrutiny after a disastrous series of transfer windows that McCoist claims have made the club weaker in almost every area. As it stands, the Scottish giants have lost four games in as many Europa League fixtures this term while also sitting fourth in the Scottish Premiership and 15 points behind runaway league leaders Hearts. With Russell Martin sacked and Rohl now in place, fans are hoping that the club's fortunes can improve, but doing so may take longer than many wish. Rangers Need Three Windows To Challenge Following Rangers' 2-0 defeat to Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night, Alan Hutton and Ally McCoist were discussing the fortunes of Rangers and their need for reinforcements in Danny Rohl's playing squad. Rohl will have his own idea on the sort of players and characters that he needs in his squad in order to challenge, but the structure of the club implies that he might not necessarily get his way. Speaking on TNT Sports, Hutton said: "I spoke to the manager last week about this [transfers], and he was telling me that it was a collective decision between everybody. I was desperate to know if he has the final say and decision on it, but he didn't really answer it, to be honest." McCoist replied: "That's even more concerning, if you're telling me that there's four or five people bringing some of those players in rather than one. That's doubly concerning for me." McCoist was then asked whether Rohl could solve the club's recruitment issues in the January transfer window and issued a defiant response. "No. No is the answer," McCoist said. "Forget it. Forget one window. It might be three. "First of all, it is not the best window. The January window is not the best window. That is the first thing you have got to say. And then you have got to balance it because you have got to balance the books and get some of them going in the opposite direction. Nowadays, that is easier said than done. "That man, who I think speaks very, very well, and I think should and will get a good opportunity, and hopefully get a few windows, because I like the sound of him. "I think he clearly knows the game, and I genuinely hope he will get the opportunity, but it will take more than one window because that is a big job. A big job."
