Allocate lands freed from encroachments to school buildings: CM Revanth

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials on setting up schools with modern infrastructure and facilities in the government lands that were recently freed from encroachments.

Officials should identify Government educational institutions offering education at different levels in all the municipalities and corporations. Besides providing quality education at all levels, especially from nursery to fourth standard. “Bringing together four to five schools with namesake facilities will yield good results,” he said adding the move would help address issues like shortage of teachers and ensure provision of quality food to students. This would in turn reduce the burden of expenditure on parents.

The Chief Minister reviewed the development plans for the core urban region with senior officials from different departments on Monday. Senior bureaucrat Jayesh Ranjan made a PowerPoint presentation on the development model, divided into five categories comprising 111 issues.

The CM asked the officials concerned to give priority to education, public health, road transport, sanitation and other human development indicators in the development of the core urban region. The core urban region should be reflective of a global city with all basic amenities in place in line with the State government’s ‘Telangana Rising’ vision. Greater Hyderabad is witnessing influx of lakhs of families and its development should ensure that basic amenities of global standards are set up in line with the aspirations of the people.

“Not even a single government office in the core urban region should function from rented premises,” he said directing officials concerned to allot lands for government offices and take up construction of buildings giving priority. Likewise, priority should be accorded to providing medical facilities to poor through special clinics.

All government offices, including those housed in the State Secretariat, should focus on utilising renewable energy and steps should accordingly be taken to set up solar plants over government offices. Equal emphasis should be laid on protection and maintenance of nalas, tanks and lakes while steps should be taken to protect vacant government lands deploying digital database.

Mr. Revanth Reddy favoured a comprehensive study on traffic issues confronting the city along with setting up of modern signal systems to avoid frequent traffic jams. All the junctions across the core urban region should be linked with the Integrated Command Control Centres. The police department could also deploy drone policing to control traffic and ensure that drones are deployed in the busy traffic areas.
