The powerful storm, which struck last month, destroyed vast areas of western Jamaica and damaged more than 100,000 homes, including those in Trelawny, the hometown of sprint legend Usain Bolt, and at William Knibb High School, where Bolt’s career began. In response, the Usain Bolt Foundation has been actively supporting relief and rebuilding efforts. Dedicated to empowering and inspiring youth through education, cultural development and sports, the foundation continues to invest in Jamaica’s next generation. Earlier this year, it donated funds and resources to six rural high schools to help them prepare for the ISSA Boys and Girls Athletics Championships 2025.
