For the Galaxy S26 lineup, which is expected to be announced in January and released in February, a rumor claims that Samsung will once again introduce 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM as standard, but there will be two differences. One, the memory will run at higher speeds, and two, there will be a 16GB RAM version, but you have to spend extra because this configuration will be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The higher 16GB LPDDR5X RAM operating at 10.7Gbps speeds will remain exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, but no word on whether it is for the base storage or all variants The LPDDR5X RAM running in all Galaxy S25 models are operating at 8.5Gbps, but Schrödinger claims on X that the memory chips in all Galaxy S26 models will run at 10.7Gbps, making it a sizable difference between the two flagship generations. It is disappointing that Samsung will not shift to LPDDR6 RAM next year. Even though the company is said to showcase this technology at the CES 2026 trade show, the newer standard’s 10.7Gbps bandwidth will remain unchanged compared to the speeds of LPDDR5X RAM chips expected to be found in the Galaxy S26 lineup, so we haven’t lost much. Notable tipster Ice Universe has pointed out the list of camera and thermal improvements arriving to the Galaxy S26 series thanks to faster 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM chips. For the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the rumor claims that Samsung’s top-end model will ship with 16GB of memory instead of 12GB for the remaining handsets. While this is excellent news for those looking to upgrade next year, we still have some unanswered questions that were not mentioned in the post. For instance, will the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s higher RAM count be available on all storage tiers, or just one of them? Remember, the Galaxy S25 Ultra also arrived with a 16GB RAM model, but that was exclusive to South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Furthermore, this higher amount of memory was only paired with 1TB of storage, so customers really had to dig deep into their wallets to attain this version. We certainly hope Samsung doesn’t repeat history next year, given that competition is even more heated, but we will keep our fingers crossed for any and all updates that cross our path.
