Football fans will have another option when it comes to the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Turning Point USA, a grassroots political action network founded by the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, announced plans for an “All-American Halftime Show” on Feb. 8.
Organizers view the event as a celebration of “faith, family and freedom” and an alterative to the NFL’s official halftime show featuring Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny.
Few details about the show have been announced, but there is a website that says more information is forthcoming. There’s also a survey form where people can select from several genres of music they would like to see featured.
Options include americana, classic rock, country, hip hop, pop, worship and notably, “anything in English.”
Bad Bunny, whose given name is Benito Ocasio, is wildly successful on music charts and he has been dubbed the “King of Latin Trap.”
But the NFL’s decision to feature him has been met with controversy in conservative circles due to perceived slights against the United States.
Bad Bunny, who supported Democratic nominee Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, has said he will not tour in the U.S. because he fears his concerts will be targeted by federal authorities amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
More recently, the rapper was criticized for not standing during the singing of “God Bless America” at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night.
“I’ve never heard of him,” the President Donald Trump said when asked about the NFL’s decision. “I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s, like crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Bad Bunny previously performed as a guest in the Super Bowl LIV halftime show headlined by Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.
Super Bowl LX will take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The game and halftime show will be seen on NBC.
