All's Fair Makes Dig at Kim Kardashian's Character's Weight, Masturbation Jokes

All’s Fair continues to make waves, this time with an episode full of jokes about masturbation — and a dig about weight gain. During the Tuesday, November 11, episode of the Hulu series, shots were fired when Carrington (Sarah Paulson) nearly faced off with Allura (Kim Kardashian) in court over a divorce. “Boy do I love coming here and walking down that hallway shaped like a clown cervix,” Carrington said. “Allura, that weight you put on since Chase dumped is hardly noticeable.” Allura gave it right back, replying, “It is a good thing you are so thin these days. Less space for your personality.” Carrington called Allura “beef curtains” and Emerald (Niecy Nash) the “Black Mae West” before leaving. Tuesday’s episode followed a divorce case where a woman was accused of fraud because she refused to have a baby with her husband. Carrington chose to represent the husband as a way to irk Allura but he ultimately withdrew his demands after learning his new girlfriend is pregnant. “I was so looking forward to crushing you in court. I guess I will have to masturbate about something else until next time,” Carrington quipped. “And though I was denied total revenge, I kept my obscenely large fee so go die or whatever.” All’s Fair follows an all-female law firm run by Allura, Liberty (Naomi Watts), Emerald, Milan (Teyana Taylor) and Dina Standish (Glenn Close). In addition to the star-studded main cast, there will be appearances from Matthew Noszka, O-T Fagbenle, Kathleen Garrett, Ed O’Neill, Judith Light, Steven Pasquale, Tamara Taylor and Lorraine Toussaint. The guest cast also includes Elizabeth Berkley, Grace Gummer, Brooke Shields and more. After the first three episodes debuted on November 4, All’s Fair received overwhelmingly negative reviews. While Kardashian has poked fun at the commentary online, Anthony Hemingway, who directed four episodes of the Hulu series and serves as an executive producer alongside Ryan Murphy, Kardashian, 44, and Kris Jenner, defended the show. “You’re not going to please everybody,” Hemingway told The Hollywood Reporter. “You may have certain criticisms, while there are a million others who love it. I think the show holds a mirror up to each person who watches it. It’s just about: Can you connect to it or relate to it, and see yourself? It may be out of your league, it may not be anything you can connect to, and I think that goes for anything that gets presented on screen.” Hemingway added: “It’s entertainment, it’s a comedy, and it’s a matter of finding ways to tap into real conversations and real human dynamics in a different way. Every time you meet any sort of difference, it takes a minute to either develop a taste for it or not.” The director stood by the vision for the show. “It may not be for you, and that’s OK, but I personally enjoy the show. I had a lot of fun relating to it in my own way. Not everything is for everybody, and you can’t also expect one person to define something and for that be the totality of what it is — I don’t agree with that,” Hemingway continued. The show takes a minute to get into gear, but I do feel like it is absolutely striking, something that is refreshing and creatively fulfilling.” A source exclusively told Us Weekly about Kardashian’s reaction to the All’s Fair backlash. “Kim is so happy with how much the fans love the show and it’s still No. 1 on Hulu [for the] third day,” the insider shared. “She has joked that this is actually getting more people to watch it. She’s incredibly driven and knows one project doesn’t define her.” New episodes of All’s Fair air Tuesdays on Hulu.
