Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor’s Homebound trailer has finally been released. It is getting immense love from all corners. Alia Bhatt has joined the list and praised the trailer. The actress took to social media to express her appreciation, calling the trailer “beautiful” and wishing the team the very best.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Alia Bhatt shared the trailer and wrote, “Deep, Honest and Beautiful. What a lovely trailer. Can’t wait to watch this.” Arjun Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and many other celebrities have also praised the trailer. The film is releasing on September 26.

Homebound Trailer
The trailer opens with two friends-Mohammad Shoaib and Chandan Kumar who are preparing for police recruitment exams. Shoaib works as an office boy in an MNC and faces discrimination on account of his religion, while Chandan, a Dalit, is very touchy about his caste. Both feel that a government job will help them earn the respect that society has denied them. Janhvi Kapoor is seen as a friend of the two and is a young PhD aspirant. She is battling restrictions of her own.
Karan Johar Reacts As Homebound Wins International People’s Choice Award At TIFF
Karan took to Instagram, where he shared the poster of the film, which stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor. He finds it surreal that the film was “accepted and appreciated” across the globe. The poster featured that the movie was the Second Runner Up at the 2025 International People’s Choice Award category at TIFF. “Always more special when it’s the people’s choice…Homebound, our film is a story we are all so so proud of and to see it being loved, accepted and appreciated across the globe, across language or any barriers – it is surreal! A big thank you to @tiff_net for giving us the platform.”
He then went on to thank National Award-winning filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan for allowing him to be a part of “Homebound.” “Congratulations to the entire team – this is only the beginning thank you @neeraj.ghaywan for allowing us to be a part of your labour of love,” wrote Karan.
About Homebound
The film, produced by Dharma Productions, follows two childhood friends from a small village in North India dream of becoming police officers, hoping the job will bring them the respect they never had. However, as they come closer to their goal, pressure and struggles create problems in their friendship.
Homebound saw a world premiere at Cannes
Homebound had a world premiere at Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2025, which will run from May 14 to 25. Homebound marks filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan’s long-awaited return to the big screen and Cannes, especially a decade after his debut film Masaan premiered at the festival and won two awards.
Alia Bhatt’s work front
Alia Bhatt is all set to once again win hearts with Shiv Rawail’s Alpha. The movie also features Sharvari and Bobby Deol, and marks the seventh instalment in YRF’s spy universe. It is slated to hit theatres on December 25. In addition to this, Alia will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film is presently under production and is expected to release in 2026.
