Alexi Wasser, 'Messy' Filmmaker, Signs With Anonymous Content

EXCLUSIVE: New York–based filmmaker, writer, and actor Alexi Wasser has signed with Anonymous Content for representation.
Wasser is the writer, director, producer, and star of Messy, a forthcoming indie comedy, on which we were first to report in June 2023. The story follows a promiscuous love addict named Stella (Wasser) who moves to New York after a bad breakup, and her quest to find love and purpose — one disappointing date at a time.
Drawing inspiration from the wry honesty of Nora Ephron, Carrie Fisher, and Erica Jong, Messy marks Wasser’s feature directorial debut. Her co-stars include Adam Goldberg, Thomas Middleditch, Mario Cantone, Ione Skye, and Jack Kilmer, to name just a few. Pic world premiered at New/Next Film Festival before making its official New York premiere at the inaugural Downtown Festival.
As an actor, Wasser has also appeared in series including Rian Johnson’s Peacock whodunit Poker Face, Lena Dunham’s iconic HBO show Girls, and TBS/HBO Max’s Search Party. Currently, she’s developing her second feature — a modern-day love story set at New York’s Chelsea Hotel, about the ache of creative burnout, the chaos of dating apps and kink culture, the comedy of being broke, and the tiny humiliations that come with searching for intimacy in a city that constantly seduces and betrays.
