Alex and Audrey’s shared dinner

Alex and Audrey's shared dinner

AUDREY T.: 25 / product analyst
Her interests: Watching Giants football, skiing, soccer
What makes her a catch: She’s funny and loyal.
7 P.M. CAPRI, BOSTON
Alex My sisters helped me prepare by giving outfit recommendations.
Audrey I watched TV and did a puzzle.
Alex Unfortunately, we went to different host stands, so we both thought the other was running super late.
Audrey There was some confusion and I was sitting at a table for 15 minutes by myself. I was relieved to learn he wasn’t late but was also waiting somewhere else in the restaurant!
Alex She had a thin nose ring, which I usually don’t like, but I thought it was cute with the rest of her vibe.
Audrey He was charming. He has a nice head of hair and it’s clear he likes to work out. Not the type of guy I usually date but I wanted to keep an open mind.
Alex We tried to figure out why we were matched. We talked about our backgrounds, what we’re up to right now (e.g. work, lifestyle). She graciously complimented me that I don’t act like a finance bro because I actually have a personality, which I greatly appreciated.
Audrey He is a food influencer and has been to many Boston restaurants so I asked him for recommendations. We talked about what sports we like to watch and our shared disdain for Philadelphia Eagles fans.
Alex We both enjoy watching football and play fantasy football. We also both cook and like being active, although I prefer tennis/pickleball and running, whereas she plays soccer. I think my dad would have been avidly opposed to me dating a Giants fan.
Audrey Something I think about is if the other person skis. I’m a really huge skier and would like to ideally be with someone who shares that passion.
Alex We LOVED the prosciutto and burrata. The Bolognese was one of, if not the best, we’ve ever had. The hazelnut chocolate mousse for dessert was incredibly light, too.
Audrey The restaurant brought us a bunch of complimentary food, including tuna tartare, an extra pasta dish, and an apple tart dessert. The food was absolutely incredible.
Alex At some point, it felt like we were just friends going out to dinner; I wasn’t sensing that spark from her. I teased the idea of going [for sushi] at some point. Her response conveyed more neutrality as opposed to excitement.
Audrey He was very present during the entire date and asked me lots of questions about myself. I just didn’t feel a romantic connection and felt more like we could be good friends.
Alex We didn’t do anything together after because it was late and we were tired. We got the check and left.
Audrey We walked down the street and I went to my car. We hugged and exchanged phone numbers.
Alex No — I think we’re just two very different people looking for different qualities in our future partners.
Audrey I don’t think I would go on another date; I just didn’t feel a romantic connection. However, I wish him nothing but the best.
