Aldi set to launch dedicated new zones in UK supermarkets

Aldi is set to launch dedicated reduction zones across its UK stores. Areas will be clearly marked so that shoppers will find it easier to locate discounted food. Aldi said the section will feature reduced bread, fresh produce, and other items nearing their use-by date. The new zones will also allow the supermarket to cut unnecessary food waste. Items will be discounted throughout the day. Luke Emery, National Sustainability Director at Aldi UK, said: “Our customers already know they can rely on us to provide unbeatable value, but our new reduction areas will make it even easier to pick up a last-minute bargain. It comes following a show-stopping performance by Lewis Capaldi on the roof of an Aldi store, officially dubbed “Cap-Aldi." Aldi have launched a nationwide social media competition to celebrate the impromptu gig, with a giveaway of Lewis Capaldi signed caps. Capaldi’s surprise performance captivated a crowd of Aldi customers with renditions of his latest single, “Something in the Heavens,” along with hits like “Someone You Loved” and “Survive” at the end of September. To commemorate this special event, Aldi is offering all fans the chance to own an historic memento from the day with one of these unique signed caps. To enter, followers will need to simply comment on Aldi’s Instagram or TikTok with the name of a Lewis Capaldi song they’ve cried to. Aldi continues to make waves in the music scene. Following the successful rebranding of its Prestwich store to “Aldeh” ahead of iconic Oasis concerts, “Cap-Aldi” became an instant viral sensation that got the whole nation talking. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Our customers were treated to an unexpected slice of musical brilliance with Lewis Capaldi’s impromptu performance at Cap-Aldi. "Now, we’re thrilled to offer fans across the nation a chance to own a bit of Aldi and music history from the day!”
