Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has congratulated two of Nigeria’s most prominent journalists and public intellectuals, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi and Dr. Reuben Abati, on their 60th birthdays. In a congratulatory message he personally signed, the governor described the duo as “distinguished professionals whose work has shaped journalism and deepened national discourse.” Aiyedatiwa noted that Adeniyi, who turns 60 on November 6, and Dr. Abati, who clocks 60 on November 7, have both made “immense and indelible contributions to the growth of journalism and the advancement of democratic ideals in Nigeria.” “These eminent personalities have, through the exercise of their formidable craft and intellectual rigour, made immense and indelible contributions to the maturation of journalism, the deepening of national discourse, and the advancement of democratic tenets within our federation,” Aiyedatiwa said. He commended Mr. Adeniyi’s career achievements, noting his service as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and his leadership as Chairman of the Editorial Board of ThisDay newspaper. “Mr. Adeniyi’s highly distinguished career, notably his dedicated service as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and his influential role as Chairman of the Editorial Board of ThisDay newspaper, stands as a testament to his uncommon dedication, professional moderation, and an unwavering commitment to truth and the Nigerian nation,” the governor stated. On Dr. Abati, the governor said his decades of insightful commentary and national engagement have made him a household name in Nigerian media. “Dr. Abati, similarly, has distinguished himself with decades of profound and insightful commentary, particularly during his tenure with The Guardian, his impactful service as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and his sustained relevance as a leading broadcaster and analyst on crucial national affairs.” Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated both men for attaining the Diamond Jubilee, describing it as “a moment of gratitude and celebration.” “As these respected citizens celebrate this momentous milestone, I join their immediate and professional families, esteemed colleagues, and countless admirers nationwide in offering profound gratitude to the Almighty for their lives of exceptional impact and praying for their continued strength, robust health, and greater fulfilment in the many years that lie ahead,” he added.
